Community Security & Upcoming Annual Meeting
Given the recent security incidents at our community, the Board of Directors wants to share what we know, what we're doing, and what comes next — together.
Dear Soco Residents and Owners,
Given the recent security incidents at our community, the Board of Directors wants to share what we know, what we're doing, and what comes next — together.
Before we get into specifics, we want to be direct: community security is not something the board can solve alone. The board's role is to research options, present tradeoffs, and facilitate decisions — but ultimately, the direction we take is a community decision that affects everyone's safety and everyone's finances. We need your participation to get this right.
BEST PRACTICES FOR ALL RESIDENTS
These steps are things every resident can do right now to improve our collective security:
- If you feel your life, safety, or property is in immediate danger — call 911. We understand that response times vary, but it is critical that APD receives and logs every call. Our property management company can escalate non-responsive calls with the city, but only if we are consistently reporting. - After calling 911: - If the situation remains an emergency or there is damage to security infrastructure (gate, locks, etc.), call the PS Property Management 24/7 emergency hotline. This reaches a real person who can assess and respond immediately. - If it is not an emergency, email info@psprop.net with details of the incident. This allows us to properly track and document what's happening. - Do not allow vehicles to tailgate into the garage. Make sure the vehicle gate closes completely behind you before leaving. If you notice someone suspicious enter behind you, report it to info@psprop.net — we can pull security footage and document unauthorized access. - Protect your access codes. We have evidence that individuals are using resident codes for unauthorized entry. Do not share your codes with anyone outside your household. IMMEDIATE ACTIONS
- Access Code Reset — All access codes have been reset and programmed as of April 30, 2026. OPTIONS THAT REQUIRE COMMUNITY INPUT
Several ideas have been raised that could meaningfully improve our security posture — but each comes with real tradeoffs in cost, convenience, or both. The board's job is to present these options clearly so we can make informed decisions as a community. A few examples:
- Security Patrol (10pm–6am) — We are gathering quotes, but this will likely increase monthly dues by several hundred dollars per unit. - Amazon / Package Locker Installation — We are investigating costs and logistics for a package locker program to reduce theft and unauthorized foot traffic. - Community Safety Committee — If you want to be involved in these decisions but aren't ready to join the board, we can establish a focused committee with specific, limited responsibilities that participates in board discussions on security. These are starting points, not a complete list. Additional options will be discussed at the upcoming meeting. We will hold the Annual Meeting of the Members to discuss the available options and decide how our community wants to proceed.
If security is something you care about, this is the meeting to attend. The decisions made will be based on the input of those who participate. Residents who do not attend will be deferring those decisions to the board and the members present.
Meeting details and the virtual link will be sent separately.
We take the safety of this community seriously, and we know you do too. The best outcomes will come from broad participation — not just from the board, but from everyone who calls Soco home.
Thank you,
Soco Condominiums Board of Directors
